well the AUSSIE DAY JAM went off well... casual as day with no rain but constant sunshine!
damn it was hot!... Many thanks to all involved!
Happy Birthday to Jesso who got the "first place" in seniors...
but really anyone who came down had a win that day.
Massive thanks to MORGAN STEPHAN for contributing these photos!!! and making the flyer and generally being a chill and motivated dude in the face of constant abuse! haha.
but lets face it. Darwin is 3000kms from the nearest capital city. it takes 3 full days of driving to get here and not to many riders are going to spend the dollars on an airfare just to come here. it's definitely not on the way to anywhere... except Thailand or Bali but even then it's a stop off... or better still the planes fly right over.
So when a shredder comes to town we love it. Welcome to Darwin Angus Samson. I mean Gus.
Gus stops to consider his new life in Darwin.... and air out his arse.
so on a lazy, rainy sunday we took the chance and drove WAY out of town to the rural area to check out some big jumps that were in the making... we only expected to find a few piles of mud and some inspiration but instead we found a smooth, well formed dirt lip and landing amongst the over grown grass and weeds. With a quick once over with the slasher and some hard core shovel work the boys had it ready to test...
and there is nothing harder than being the first one over a new jump.
after a slight case and then a slide out and end-over on the run in, due to a over excited puppy getting in the mix, Wayne hit the big set a few times and we called it a day before more rain set in.
Many thanks to Stuart for having us and to his old man for the tractor work!
and if you are interested here's a little vid from about two years ago of what was there before the big jump transformation started. (no sound. thanks youtube.)
Justin Pitts picked up some sponsorship from NT ELITE in the middle of last year... here's a little clip put together by everyone's favourite confused scooter kid (and soon to be fulltime bmxer) Morgan...
and if you went hard over the holiday break then you should relate to this.
Yesterday we took a drive to Katherine. It's about 3 hours in the car down there but there's a concrete bowl and on that day there was SUNSHINE when there hasn't been any here in Darwin for weeks... Sunburn, BMX, Concrete Bowls, Good times.
